About the team
The Super Eagles are the men's national football team of Nigeria, run by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF). They are one of the best-supported teams in Africa, and their matches draw some of the biggest television audiences in the country.
Nigeria has won the Africa Cup of Nations three times, in 1980, 1994 and 2013. At the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta the team won the men's football gold medal, the first African team to do so. Nigeria played at its first FIFA World Cup in 1994 and has returned several times since.
Generations of fans remember players such as Rashidi Yekini, Nwankwo Kanu and Jay-Jay Okocha, who helped make the team a fixture of world football in the 1990s.
